ABOUT
THERMALCITIES.COM
MUCH MORE COMING SOON - CHECK BACK IN
JULY!
Thermalcities: London was
inspired by the 2006 London Architecture Biennale and is the
first of several 'educational outreach projects' that will be
launched by thinkofthefuture.com. For the duration of the 2008
festival new material will be put up on the thermalcities.com
site (So that people do not just quickly drop in on the site and
conclude they have 'done it') focusing on the theme of looking
at London from a 'Fresh!' (In this case thermal)
perspective.
After the festival
thermalcities.com will be repurposed to become a more general
educational outreach site and will look to working with cities
and educational outreach projects around the world, as the site
builds its resources.
The enlarged images on the site are not so high quality, so as
to avoid bandwidth issues. Higher quality images and variations
on the images presented, can be made available as appropriate.
In July, more educational and
informative rather than plain fun content, will start to go up
on the currently blank 'Experiments' and 'Practical Uses' pages.
This, it is hoped, will become of increasing use to: policy
makers, planners, designers, teachers and students.
New material will also be
prepared and is being sought for all other pages now on a
continuing basis. In due course, prior to a complete re-design,
the 'coming soon' menu space will be replaced with an
'Educational Resources' page, to help equip teachers with
relevant tools, to help, in turn, convey the very useful
insights that can be delivered with the assistance of thermal
imaging and related discovery-based projects.
After the festival, thinkofthefutre.com will also get a
dedicated web-space and more information about its future
project pipeline will be presented. The ideas behind
thinkofthefuture.com emerged from Steve Lowe's experience as a
business development consultant and, in the long distant past,
as a junior academic policy analyst, specializing in strategy
and innovation.
These days Steve works in both management consulting and
corporate finance, where with a firm of City stockbrokers, he
aims to help raise funds for deserving businesses.
If you have any potentially useful content to add
to this site, thermalcities will be very happy to hear from
you. If used, your material will be given full citation,
relevant hyperlinks and your copyright will be honored.
If you wish to get in contact, please email thermalcities@gmail.com,
but please have as the start of your subject line the upper-case
letters TC to help filter out spam.
Finally, if you like the site, please feel free to hyperlink to
it and if you have a site that is in any way relevant,
thermalcities will, in due course, when it starts to update its
links page in July, document and link to it, provided you let us
know.
For now, thank you, and
remember to check back in July for updates.
